Naveed Raza: Why he left his grade 17 Govt Job

Naveed Raza has portrayed a diverse array of characters in television dramas, ranging from comedic to serious, and from positive to negative, including romantic roles.

He entered the entertainment industry in 2009 and has since become a prominent name in Pakistani television.

Raza began his acting journey with the hit drama Mehmoodabad Ki Malkayein.

At the time, he was working as an officer in the Sindh AIDS Control Program.

After two years of balancing both acting and his government job, he made the decision to resign and dedicate himself entirely to his acting career.

In an interview, when asked about how he transitioned into showbiz, Raza explained that he initially started his professional life in 2008 as a Grade 17 officer in the health sector, working for the Sindh AIDS Control Program.

However, in 2009, he began modeling for various magazines and auditioned for the TV show Hero Ban’ne Ki Tarang, which marked a turning point in his life. This led to more acting opportunities in commercials and dramas.

For two years, he continued both his job and acting, but as his passion for acting grew, he decided to leave the security of his government position, even though his friends advised against it.

Raza shared that his love for acting was too strong to ignore, so he chose to fully pursue his passion.

Among his notable drama roles are Yeh Zindagi Hai, Bashar Momin, Joru Ka Ghulam, Jehaiz, Agar Aur Jee Lete, Rishtey Kachay Dhagon Ke, and Dil Toh Kacha Hai Ji.

He has also appeared in films like Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and Raasta.

Discussing his personal life, Raza mentioned that he was born and raised in Karachi, where he completed his schooling and higher education.

He initially pursued a BBA and later enrolled in an MBA program, but due to his growing career commitments, he was unable to continue. Raza also highlighted that his parents placed great emphasis on his and his sibling’s education and upbringing.

Raza credited Humayun Saeed for introducing him to Mehmoodabad Ki Malkayein, which aired in 2011.

He later made his film debut in 2015 with Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, where he played the role of a lawyer.
