Sidhu bets on a sinking ship, will Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma be able to prove Navjot's words?
Sports Desk: Former Indian team batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu has supported Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma despite their poor performance in Australia during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, saying that senior players should be given more 'respect'. Sidhu gave the examples of Mark Taylor, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly. Regarding them he said that these players were allowed to return.
On Sports Today, Sidhu said that if someone is in bad form for 2 months, you cannot remove him. I know you can't rest on your laurels. You have to freshen them up again. For which you will have to give them discount also. Mark Taylor failed for about 1.5 years. Mohammad Azharuddin also failed. Ganguly said that I may fail in 8 innings, but just one innings is needed to make a comeback.
Rohit had won the World Cup only 6 months ago
Sindhu pointed to the fact that Kohli and Rohit were part of the leadership group that helped India win the 2024 T20 World Cup. Sidhu said that he made you win the World Cup 6 months ago and now you have a chance for full ODI cricket. You can't target just two and ignore the others. Who showed consistency in Test cricket?

The easiest thing to do is to blame. It is easy to throw stones, but there are some people who build houses with thrown stones and these two are great examples of this. This is not the first time that Kohli has faced criticism, people start criticizing his wife also. This is wrong, we should respect our players. Be patient. Everyone goes through difficult times.

When asked about the Test form of Kohli and Rohit, Sidhu said that Kohli goes home and watches his videos, he realizes that his bat is going too far away from his body. He will find a solution to this. Regarding Rohit, he said that he needs to work on his fitness. Both are great players.
During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, only 190 runs were scored from Kohli's bat. Whereas he also scored a century in this series. Whereas Rohit Sharma could score only 31 runs in five innings. This tour was no less than a nightmare for Rohit. With this, the Indian team had to face 3-1 defeat at the hands of Australia.
