Nearly 30,000 Sold In 3 Months
Mahindra launched the XUV 7XO (in other words, the facelifted XUV 700) in early January 2026. Deliveries of this SUV began in mid-January. Latest sales data shows that Mahindra sold 9210 units of the XUV 7XO in March.
The 7XO is available in six main trims- AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7T, and AX7L- priced between Rs 13.66 lakh and Rs 25.07 lakh, ex-showroom. It competes primarily with the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and MG Hector.
The Safari had recently got new petrol variants that levelled the playing field in terms of pricing. Not too long ago, MG rolled out a facelift on the Hector making it more competitive. This update also took away the diesel powertrain. Long story short, the competition has intensified lately. Now, let’s see how the 7XO has been performing.
In March, Mahindra sold 9210 units of the XUV 7XO- 98 units more than February numbers. Mahindra’s total sales stood at 60,272 units. The XUV 7XO seems to have contributed to over 15% of total numbers.
In February, 9,112 XUV 7XOs were sold in India. January, the first month of deliveries, saw sales of 10,133 7XOs. 28,455 units of the XUV 7XO have been retailed in the first three months- impressive considering the price range and segment that this SUV belongs to. From day one, the carmaker has been prioritising deliveries of higher trims.
March figures of the Alcazar, Safari and Hector aren’t available at the time of writing. In January, 334 Hectors, 962 Alcazars and 2375 Safaris were sold in India. In February this year, the numbers posted by the Alcazar, Safari and Hector were 907, 1650 and 1204 respectively.

The XUV 7XO comes with a sharper, more upmarket design than the XUV 700. The overall stance and silhouette remain the same as the XUV 700. Details of the design have, however, been improved.
The 7XO gets redesigned LED headlamps and tail lamps, DRLs, larger grille, a redesigned air dam, refreshed fog lamps and a more pronounced skid plate. It gets flush-fitting door handles and rides on new 19-inch wheels. Petrol variants start at Rs 13.66 lakh and diesel at Rs 14.96 lakh- both ex-showroom.
Changes are far more noticeable inside. A clear visual resemblance can be found between the 7XO and the XEV 9S.

The SUV gets features like the large triple-screen cluster ( three 12.3-inch displays functioning as the central infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, and front passenger entertainment screen), a new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, Level 2 ADAS, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 540-degree camera, ventilated seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, an electronic parking brake, and powered front seats with memory function for the driver
The vehicle also comes with rear AC vents and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mounts for added comfort and convenience. The front passenger seat also gets a ‘Boss mode’ function.

The XUV 7XO uses the same two engine options as the XUV 700- 2.2L turbocharged four cylinder mHawk diesel producing 182 bhp and 450 Nm, and 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine delivering 200 bhp and 380 Nm. These offer the choice of manual and automatic transmissions. All Wheel Drive (AWD) is kept exclusive to higher trims alone.
The suspension setup has been completely reworked. It gets McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear with a control blade. These now use new Davinci dampers that are claimed to improve ride quality and handling balance significantly.
There is no compromise on the safety front either. The XUV 7XO comes equipped with over 75 safety features including seven airbags and an updated ADAS system. The ADAS suite on the new SUV has been re-calibrated for better performance on Indian roads, and the camera quality has been enhanced as well.
