NEET UG 2026: Entry will not be allowed without new admit card, biometric verification is mandatory before the exam, know important information
NTA: Before the Re-NEET (UG) 2026 examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued new guidelines for the candidates. Candidates appearing in the examination will have to download a new admit card, because the admit card for the examination held on May 3 will no longer be valid. Along with this, biometric verification has also been made mandatory at the examination centre.
NTA gave important information-
In a notice released on the social media platform ‘X’, NTA clarified that the candidates who have already downloaded the new admit card for the June 21 exam are not required to download it again. SMS, Email and WhatsApp messages are being sent only to those candidates who have not yet downloaded the new admit card.
According to the agency, the admit cards dated May 3 will be invalid as many students have been allotted new examination centres. In such a situation, only the new admit card of June 21 will be valid for admission to the examination.
Biometric verification will be done at the examination center-
Biometric verification of all candidates will be done after completion of security check on the day of examination. This process will include fingerprint scanning and face recognition. Verification will be done before entry into the examination hall to ensure transparency and security of the examination.
Relief will be available in these circumstances-
If the biometric verification of a candidate is not done due to technical or other reasons, he/she will not be stopped from taking the examination. However, such candidates will have to fill a written undertaking at the examination centre.
Possible circumstances of getting exemption-
Technical fault in biometric device
poor quality of biometric data
Connectivity problem with UIDAI server
Candidate being physically unable to provide biometric data
There will be no hindrance during the examination
NTA has said that no candidate will be harassed during the examination due to the biometric process. If needed, this process will be completed before the commencement of the examination or after the completion of the examination.
Refusal to verify may prove costly.
NTA has appealed to all the candidates to cooperate with the examination center staff and security personnel. If a candidate refuses to undergo biometric verification without valid reason and documentary proof, it will be considered a violation of the examination rules.
In such cases, legal action can be taken against the candidate under the “Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024”.
