5500 centres, 15K paramilitary personnel and CCTV monitoring; How is NTA preparing for NEET-UG exam? Know in 10 points

NEET-UG Re-Exam Will be held on 21st June. Before the examination, NTA will conduct a mega mock drill across the country on Saturday, in which the entire process from delivering the paper till returning the answer sheet will be examined. This examination is being conducted for those students whose allegations of paper leaks and irregularities had come to light in the previous examination. The government and NTA claim that this time no stone will be left in security.

This time around 22.8 lakh students will appear in the examination. The examination will be conducted in 551 cities and 14 foreign centres. More than 5,500 examination centers across the country have been made high security zones.

10 big arrangements made for NEET-UG re-exam

1. Deploying 15 thousand paramilitary soldiers: About 15,000 paramilitary personnel have been given the responsibility for the safe delivery of question papers and return of answer sheets. Paper transport will be done under completely sealed protocol.

2. More than 2 lakh security personnel will handle the arrangements: 2 to 2.5 lakh policemen will be deployed to maintain law and order at the examination centres. District administration, police and central security agencies will jointly monitor.

3. CCTV surveillance at every centre: CCTV cameras have been installed at all the examination centres. Their live feed will be monitored from NTA headquarters and control room so that immediate action can be taken on any suspicious activity.

4. 1.5 lakh new CCTV cameras and 15 thousand jammers: To increase security, additional 1.5 lakh CCTV cameras and 15 thousand signal jammers have been installed. Its purpose is to prevent copying and misuse of electronic devices.

5. Biometric and Strict Checking: Aadhaar based biometric verification will be done to ensure the identity of the students. There will be a high-sensitivity metal detector before entry.

6. Updates from NTA’s WhatsApp channel: NTA has started its official WhatsApp channel to protect students from fake information. Students have been advised to trust information only from official accounts with blue ticks.

7. Warning regarding admit card: NTA has made it clear that students should download the admit card only from the official website. Old admit cards will not be valid and it is advised to avoid fake links.

8. Action on fake paper leak: A case of fake NEET paper leak came to light in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, where the police arrested a youth. Investigation revealed that an attempt was made to spread the fake paper through Telegram group.

9. States increased facilities for students: Many states have made arrangements for transport, water, electricity, medical facilities and ambulance if needed for the students reaching the examination centres.

10. Government claims – Paper is completely safe: The government has termed the paper leak video going viral as fake. According to PIB Fact Check, the actual content of the exam was not shown in the viral video. Officials say that no one has access to the original question paper.

NEET-UG re-exam is no longer just an exam but has become a big challenge for NTA and the government to restore trust. This time the whole process will be under the watch of the whole country.
