Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar has grabbed headlines for her latest song, Candy Shop, but many fans are struggling to accept her new, bold avatar. Over the years, she has also served as a judge on the singing reality show Indian Idol, earning immense love and loyalty from audiences. Even during her heartbreak, her devoted fan army stood firmly by her side. However, Neha recently faced significant backlash following the release of Candy Shop. The debate around expression continues to divide listeners.
Neha Kakkar draws criticism over her song Candy Shop
Neha Kakkar appears to be heavily inspired by K-pop, which is evident in her latest song that carries strong Korean influences. While the concept feels fresh and experimental, fans were surprised by her bold new avatar. Though the lyrics are catchy, many have trolled the singer for their double meanings. Additionally, the overall tone and visuals of the video seem a bit overwhelming for longtime fans who preferred her romantic, upbeat tracks.

A video of the incident was shared on Reddit, where users reacted with shock. One user commented, “Is she India’s answer to labubu dolls.” A second one penned, “Where she was always headed – cringevilla! Can we ban her and her brother from making songs, please?” A third one penned, “But how is her brother okay with this, my brother would have trolled me if I would have attempted this, support aur collaboration tho door ki baat hain.” Another one wrote, “Mat criticise kar bhai fir iska bhai defend karne aa jayga on the pretext of calling it a gen-z pop song.”
When Neha Kakkar faced trolling over her unusual outfit choice
A short while ago, Neha offered a glimpse into her look from a college event. The singer opted for a white top paired with blue and grey joggers, but it was her unconventional styling that grabbed attention—she layered a blue bra over the top. With glamorous makeup and her hair worn loose, she completed the bold ensemble. Neha was also seen accessorising her look with a Lububu doll, adding a quirky touch to her appearance.

While Neha looked gorgeous, netizens were quick to react to her look. One user wrote: “Everything is ok but your dressing sense is zero.” Another netizen commented, “Literally bhut zyada wahiyat lgrha h dress.” A third one penned, “Braa upar ku phne ho..” A fourth user commented, “Confidence 100 dressing sense 0.”
Neha Kakkar’s latest controversy
Neha Kakkar faced heavy trolling earlier this year after arriving late for her Melbourne concert, where she was seen breaking down and apologising to fans. It was her brother, Tony Kakkar, who first came to her defence with a cryptic note, followed by a strong statement that read, “Artist maryada mein rahe aur audience…”. Later, Neha herself opened up about the incident and shared her side of the story.

Neha revealed that she went ahead and performed the concert free of charge for her Melbourne audience after the organisers allegedly absconded with her payment. She shared that her band was denied basic necessities, including food, accommodation, and even water. Despite facing these hardships, the singer chose to take the stage for her fans, who had been eagerly waiting for her. She wrote:
“Do you all know that I performed absolutely free for my Melbourne audience? The organisers ran away with my money and others too. My band was not even given food, hotel and even water. My husband and his boys went and provided them with food. Inspite of all this we still went on stage and did the show without any rest or anything because there my fans were waiting for hours for me.” Watch the video here!
