Neither Ravneet Bittu, nor Jakhar, has BJP’s strategy changed in Punjab? Bet on Tarun Chugh
Bharatiya Janata Party has made major changes in its organization since the Punjab elections and new responsibilities have also been given to the leaders. In Punjab, the party removed Sunil Jakhar and made Jatt Sikh face Kewal Singh Dhillon the party president. After this, now the party has selected Tarun Chugh as its candidate for Rajya Sabha. Bharatiya Janata Party announced its candidates for 11 seats on the evening of 4 June. Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu’s name was not in this list.
Punjab BJP leader and organization general secretary Tarun Chugh has been elected by the party to the Rajya Sabha. Tarun Chugh is a resident of Amritsar, Punjab and has played an important role in the organization of BJP. These days he is seen quite active in Punjab and is campaigning for the party for the 2027 elections. Now the party has decided to send him to Rajya Sabha.

Ravneet Bittu’s leave?
Ravneet Bittu is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan. His tenure will end on June 21. In 2024, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Ludhiana but was defeated by Congress leader Raja Vading. After this, BJP included him in the Union Cabinet and sent him to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. Now that he does not get a seat in Rajya Sabha, he cannot remain a minister for more than 6 months.
It is believed that after the change in the organization, BJP may make changes in the Union Cabinet in the month of June and Ravneet Bittu may be removed from it. In such a situation, there will be a place in some cabinet from Punjab. Everyone’s eyes are on this too. Bittu has probably already understood the BJP’s signal. That’s why he has said that now he wants to contest the assembly elections and he has been in the Lok Sabha assembly for 17 years. He has even said that he has packed his suitcase from Delhi.
Vote for Hindu voter and reward for Tarun Chugh
After the removal of Sunil Jakhar from the post, it was believed that this would not send a good message to the core Hindu voters of BJP. BJP has secured its Hindu vote by sending Tarun Chugh to Rajya Sabha. Along with this, Tarun Chugh has been losing continuously for the last several elections. He had contested assembly elections in 2012 and 2017 on BJP ticket but did not win. In such a situation, his work done in the organization has been rewarded by sending him to Rajya Sabha.
What will happen to Sunil Jakhar?
BJP is making many big changes in Punjab these days. The party has made it clear that this time the party will not form an alliance with any political party and will contest elections alone on all the seats. With this, the party has now removed Hindu face Sunil Jakhar from the post of chief. Sunil Jakhar has not even been sent to Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, there is speculation about his political future. Congress party leaders are taunting him. However, political experts believe that BJP can field Sunil Jakhar in the upcoming assembly elections.

BJP changed strategy
This time Bharatiya Janata Party is entering the field with a new strategy in the Punjab Assembly elections. Apart from its urban Hindu voters, the party is now also keeping an eye on village votes and Sikh votes. By making Jatt Sikh leader the chief, the party has made it clear that this time it will not form an alliance with any religious party (Shiromani Akali Dal). Along with this, BJP is going to bet on new faces in these elections. The signal from the party is clear that this time the party is entering the field with new social and political equations.
