As per the decision of Nepal Government, Indian and Nepali citizens will now be able to carry Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes with them while traveling across the border. However, the maximum limit for this has been fixed at Rs 25 thousand. With this step, Indian travelers visiting Nepal will get relief to a great extent from the trouble of currency exchange.
Business in border areas will gain momentum
According to sources, this decision has been taken after the Reserve Bank of India gave permission to carry large Indian currencies while traveling to neighboring countries. After this, the Government of Nepal also decided to legalize the use of Indian currency. This decision was being demanded for a long time in the areas adjacent to the border.
The tourism sector is expected to benefit the most from this decision. Now Indian tourists will be able to use Indian currency directly in hotels, restaurants, markets, transport and other services. This is likely to boost the business of casinos, big hotels, shopping markets and border areas of Nepal.
