Big accident in Nepal: Helicopter carrying dead body crashes in a field, horrifying video surfaced

Khotang District Accident: Flying amidst Nepal’s inaccessible mountains and uncertain weather is no less than a challenge, and what happened in Khotang district on Wednesday afternoon once again gave goosebumps. When a helicopter carrying a dead body from Kathmandu was preparing to land, it suddenly went out of control and fell into a field.

Seeing this scene, there was panic among the nearby villagers, but after a few moments a news came which made everyone heave a sigh of relief. Despite the horror of the accident, everyone on board the helicopter miraculously escaped unharmed and there were no reports of any deaths or serious injuries.

How did the helicopter carrying the dead body crash from Kathmandu?

The incident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday, when a helicopter took off from Kathmandu for Khotang district. The purpose of this flight was to transport a mortal remains to its destination. According to information received from the local administration, when the helicopter reached its destination, there was no paved airstrip there.

As is often the case in the hilly areas of Nepal, the pilot chose an open field for landing. But while landing, the helicopter suddenly lost its balance and crashed as soon as it hit the ground. It was fortunate that the chopper did not catch fire, otherwise the consequences could have been extremely painful.

Everyone came out safe from death

As soon as the news of the accident was received, the district administration and rescue teams immediately became active. District Chief Officer Rekha Kandel has confirmed this entire incident. He said that the team reached the spot immediately after the accident and the situation was brought under control. Expressing relief, Kandel said that all the members aboard the helicopter are completely safe and no major loss of life or property has been recorded.

It is no less than a miracle that the pilot and other people came out safely even after falling in a hilly field. At present, the administration has cordoned off the accident site and further investigation is underway.

This is not the first time that such an accident has happened in the mountains of Nepal. Last year also on October 29, 2025, a helicopter slipped during a rescue mission near Mount Everest Base Camp near Solukhumbu district. Experts say that there is always a risk in the hilly areas of Nepal due to lack of proper airstrips and suddenly changing weather. In the initial investigation, it is believed that poor visibility or technical glitch could have been the cause of this accident, which is now being investigated closely.
