PM Balendra Shah: Youth protest in Nepal, demand for Balendra Shah’s resignation within 4 months of becoming PM

Gen Z Protests Against PM Balendra Shah: Once again a period of political instability has started in Nepal. Gen-Ji and the youth have opened a front against Prime Minister Balendra Shah. It has become clear from the huge protests that took place yesterday that the public is very angry. Just a few months ago, the youth had elected Shah by removing KP Oli.

Now, less than four months after assuming power, questions are being raised on his working style. There is a huge dissatisfaction within the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP). People had very high expectations from this government which made big claims. But now again a huge demand for resignation is being raised on the streets of Nepal.

Angry over Ganesh Nepali’s death

Recently, the death of 25 year old Ganesh Nepali, a youth from Nepal, has incited the anger of the people. Kathmandu Police had pressed the wheel of the motorcycle of this ride sharing driver for breaking parking rules. Hurt by this incident, he set himself on fire and committed suicide. After this painful incident, protests against the government have intensified.

Bulldozer action and homeless people

The government’s bulldozer action has also greatly increased the problems of the common people. More than 2,600 houses built on river banks in Kathmandu have been demolished in the campaign that has been going on since April. Due to this strict step, more than 15,000 people have suddenly become completely homeless. Without any concrete rehabilitation system, elderly people, women and children have come on the streets.

Police strictness on workers

Social activists who peacefully raised their voice for the rights of these homeless people were detained. According to media reports, the police has also used third degree battery on all these workers. Apart from this, a case of blocking the media gate by a government security vehicle has also come to light. The anger of the common people of Nepal is at its peak due to all these dictatorial decisions.

Unemployment and economic policies

Unemployment has remained a big and quite serious issue in Nepal for a very long time. This was also the most important and main issue in the Gen-G movement held in September 2025 last year. The youth allege that nothing was done to deal with unemployment in the new budget. Apart from this, the farmers of the country have also opened a front against the present government regarding their demands.

rhetoric vs reality

In the initial days, decisions like ending VIP culture had made a lot of headlines. But running the country and representing it at the international level is much more than mere rhetoric. Balendra Shah’s government, which raised hopes through promises, is today completely in the dock on many fronts. It will not be a big surprise if the Prime Minister resigns in the coming time.
