PM Balen sent Oli to jail within 24 hours of taking oath, political stir intensifies as soon as new government is formed in Nepal

KP Sharma Oli Arrested: With the formation of the new government in Nepal, political activities have intensified. Within just 24 hours of taking oath, the government formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Balen took a big and strict step and arrested former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

This action has been taken in the case of the death of students during the Gen-Ji demonstration, in which these two leaders were held responsible. According to the information, in the first cabinet meeting chaired by Balen Shah, it was decided to implement the report of the inquiry commission, on the basis of which this arrest was made.

There was firing on unarmed students

Reports said that during the demonstration, unarmed students were fired upon, resulting in the loss of many lives. The government adopted the path of direct action to fix accountability in this matter.

According to sources, first thing in the morning, former Home Minister Ramesh Lalkar was detained and after some time, former Prime Minister Oli was also arrested. This step is being seen as a sign of major change in Nepal’s politics.

Questions on the role of police force and officers

However, in the report of the inquiry commission, questions have also been raised on the role of some officers of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Army, but at present no direct action has been taken against the security forces. The government has decided to set up a new committee to separately investigate his role.
