Nepali PM Balendra Shah thanked PM Modi, said- eager to work closely with India
kathmandu. Nepal’s newly elected Prime Minister Balendra Shah expressed his desire to give new momentum to relations with India, saying on Saturday that he is “looking forward to working closely” with India and also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his good wishes after taking oath. Immediately after the swearing-in on Friday, Prime Minister Modi had congratulated Shah and said that he was looking forward to working with the Nepalese Prime Minister to further strengthen India-Nepal relations.
In response to PM Modi’s message, Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Office posted on ‘X’, saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, thank you for your kind words and good wishes. I look forward to working with you to advance the multi-dimensional relations between our two countries and for the shared prosperity of our people.”
Nepal is considered a very important country for India from a regional strategic point of view, and close cooperation between the two countries is given special importance in this perspective. Nepal is largely dependent on India for transportation of goods and services. Being surrounded by land on all sides, its access to the sea is possible only through India, and it also imports most of its needs from India or through India.
