How is Nepal government elected?

The Nepali Parliament is called the House of Representatives. It has 275 seats. And 275 MPs are elected. Nepal’s electoral system is quite different from India. There is a mixed electoral system here.

Meaning, every voter has the right to cast two votes. One vote is cast to elect the MP and the other vote is cast for the party. Meaning, along with voting for the MP, one also has to vote for the party.

Which MPs are directly elected?

165 MPs are directly elected in Nepal. And 110 MPs are elected from the votes received by the parties. Meaning, the party which gets votes, its MPs are selected according to the same basis. Votes were cast in the general elections for the House of Representatives in Nepal on 5 March.

This time 58 percent voting

This time in Nepal elections, there has been much less voting as compared to previous elections. 58 percent votes were cast in 77 districts. More than 1.89 crore voters were registered for the elections here. 61.63 percent votes were cast here in the last 2022 elections.
