Netanyahu reached Lebanon wearing a bulletproof jacket, said – ‘The war is still going on’

New Delhi:Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited southern Lebanon on Sunday and met Israeli soldiers stationed there. During this, he was seen in a bulletproof jacket, which shows the serious security situation of the area. A video of his visit has also surfaced, in which he is seen standing among the soldiers and taking stock of the situation.

During this visit, Netanyahu clearly said that the conflict in Lebanon is not over yet and the Israeli army is continuing the campaign with full force. He claimed that the army has reduced the threat of attacks by Hezbollah terrorists to a great extent.

Meeting with soldiers under security cordon

During the tour in southern Lebanon, Netanyahu was wearing a flak vest, a type of body armor used to protect against low-velocity attacks. In the video released on social media, he was seen among masked soldiers. During this time, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz was also present with him.

Netanyahu said, "What we are seeing is that we have thwarted the threat of attack from Lebanon through this security zone."

‘No ceasefire in Lebanon’

The Israeli Prime Minister clarified that at present there is no ceasefire with Lebanon. He reiterated that actions against Hezbollah will continue until security is fully restored in northern Israel.

He said, "I want to tell you, there is no ceasefire in Lebanon. We continue to attack Hezbollah with full force and will not stop until we restore your security."

Attempt to negotiate and reach a peace agreement

Earlier, Netanyahu had indicated that direct talks could be started with Lebanon soon. He said that the cabinet has been instructed to take steps in this direction, so that a long-term solution can be found.

He said, "The aim of the talks is to disarm Hezbollah and achieve a historic peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon. Following repeated requests from the Lebanese government, last night I directed the Cabinet to begin direct negotiations with Lebanon to achieve two targets. First, disarm Hezbollah. Second, a historic peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon."

New round of attacks begins

After these statements, the Israel Defense Forces have started a new wave of attacks on Hezbollah targets and launch sites. It is being told that this action is being taken with the aim of strengthening the security in the area.
