Netflix has released the trailer for the final episode of its popular series Stranger Things Season 5, showing Eleven gearing up for the ultimate and decisive battle against the villain Vecna.

The finale will premiere today not only on Netflix but also in cinemas for the first time, providing fans with a cinematic experience. Titled The Right Side Up, the episode is the eighth and concluding installment of Season 5. Netflix released Season 5 in two parts: the first four episodes, Volume 1, aired on Thanksgiving, while the next three episodes, Volume 2, were released during Christmas. The seventh episode concluded Volume 2.

In the seventh episode, after Max regains consciousness, it is revealed that Vecna plans to merge the Upside Down with a parallel world called The Abyss. In response, the main characters devise a plan to enter The Abyss, rescue the abducted children, and destroy the world using explosives. The episode ends with Vecna, disguised as Henry Creel, engaging in a mysterious ritual with his controlled followers.

Created nearly a decade ago by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things premiered in July 2016 and quickly became a global sensation. Subsequent seasons were released in 2017, 2019, and the fourth season in two parts in 2022. Inspired by the series, the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow debuted in London’s West End and is now being staged on Broadway.

In a recent interview, the Duffer Brothers revealed that the biggest question in the finale revolves around Eleven’s potential happy ending, as she remains a target despite saving the world. According to them, Eleven’s character in this season will be caught between Mike’s hopeful perspective and Kali’s realistic yet pessimistic outlook.

Stranger Things is among Netflix’s most popular series, garnering over 1.2 billion views to date. The Season 5 finale has a runtime of two hours and five minutes and will be presented on the big screen for the first time. It will be screened in over 500 cinemas across the U.S. and Canada, with initial showings starting on New Year’s Eve.

According to the Duffer Brothers, more than 1.1 million people have already registered to watch the finale in cinemas. Additionally, in over 620 theaters, more than 3,500 shows have been completely sold out, reflecting the massive anticipation for the conclusion of this iconic series.
