Netflix seems to be caught in a legal dispute, serious allegations leveled against it

New Delhi: Netflix, an American OTT company that is growing rapidly in the world for its variety of content, seems to be caught in a legal dispute. It is accused of violating visa rules and promoting racial discrimination in India. The Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) under the Home Ministry has sought a response on the company's allegations. The company has denied these allegations and said that it is doing its business in India as per the rules.

According to a report, FRRO officer Deepak Yadav sent an email to Netflix company on July 20. In this email, he wrote that this is regarding the concerns arising from Netflix's violation of visa and tax rules in India. This email was sent to Netflix's business director Nandini Mehta, who was posted in India. However, Nandini Mehta has left the company in 2020.

In his email, the FRRO official wrote, we have received information about the Netflix company doing business in India violating visa rules, illegal structures, tax evasion, racial discrimination and other irregularities. Therefore, the company should issue its clarification on these allegations.
