Never got to play in IPL, now bought RCB, what is the story of Aryaman Birla?
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), one of the most popular teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has now moved to a new ownership group. A consortium comprising Aditya Birla Group, Times of India Group, Bolt Ventures and Blackstone has bought the franchise for about $1.78 billion (about Rs 16,600 crore). RCB’s new chairman Aryaman Birla has also been a cricketer but he did not get to play a single match in IPL.
This IPL deal is considered to be the most expensive in the history of IPL. With this deal, another name has come into discussion, that is Aryaman Birla. Former cricketer Aryaman has been made the chairman of RCB. Interestingly, Aryaman himself could not play a single match in IPL but now he will play an important role in the running of this big team. RCB will start its IPL 2026 campaign from March 28 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Who is Aryaman Birla?
Aryaman Birla is the son of the country’s biggest industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla. He was born on 9 July 1997 in Mumbai. He left Mumbai at an early age and moved to Madhya Pradesh to pursue a career in cricket. In November 2017, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Odisha. Before this, he had also played cricket in London and took professional training there.
Aryaman Birla has scored 414 runs in 9 first class matches in his career, which includes one century and one half-century. Apart from this he also played 4 List A matches. In the 2017-18 season, he performed brilliantly by scoring 602 runs in the Under-23 CK Nayudu Trophy. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018 but he did not get a chance to play a single match. Aryaman was later released from the team before 2020.

Aryaman made his mark in business
Aryaman Birla said goodbye to cricket in December 2019. In an interview, he had told that he was suffering from mental stress for a long time and now wants to give priority to his mental health.
Currently he is playing leadership roles in various companies of Aditya Birla Group. He is also on the board of Aditya Birla Management Corporation and is associated with big brands like Grasim Industries and Aditya Birla Fashion.
