The operation of the new Amrit Bharat Express is going to start between Howrah and Anand Vihar Terminal (Delhi). This train is equipped with modern facilities and will prove to be a boon for passengers traveling long distances in low budget.

This train connects industrial Bengal with cultural Varanasi and administrative Delhi and includes terminals like Sealdah, Howrah, Dhanbad, Varanasi Cantt, Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad, Ghaziabad and Anand Vihar. PM Modi will flag off this train through video conferencing on January 18.

Features of Amrit Bharat Express

This train is based on modern ‘push-pull’ technology, which has two engines at the front and rear, which helps it to accelerate rapidly. Maximum speed 130 km/hr and average speed around 100 km/hr. Despite being non-AC, it has modern sleeper and general coaches, which are fitted with semi-permanent couplers to avoid shocks.

How much will the fare be?

The fare of Amrit Bharat Express is slightly higher than the sleeper class of normal trains, but it comes with superfast facilities. Its fare is fixed at around Rs 500 per 1000 kilometres. Sleeper fare from Howrah to Delhi (about 1440 km) is expected to be between Rs 650 to Rs 750. The fare from Gaya in Bihar or Lucknow in UP to Delhi will be even less (about Rs 450-550).
