New attack on Pakistan amid economic crisis! Wheat supply stopped, 45 flour mills on the verge of closure
New Delhi: Pakistan is already struggling with problems like economic crisis, inflation and unemployment. Now, due to disruption in wheat supply in the country, a new flour crisis has arisen. There is a danger of closure of many flour mills in the capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas, due to which the problems of common people may increase further.
Problems increased due to stoppage of wheat supply
According to media reports, the Food Department of Punjab province has suddenly stopped the supply and transportation permits of wheat. It is being told that no written order for this decision was issued.
Due to this, the wheat stock in about 45 flour mills is depleting rapidly and many mills have reached the stage of stopping production. If the supply is not restored soon, there may be a severe shortage of flour in many cities including the capital.
8,000 tonnes wheat supply affected
According to the information, till some time ago about 8,000 tonnes of wheat was being supplied regularly to Islamabad and Rawalpindi. But after the transportation permit was stopped, the entire supply chain has been affected. Flour mills located in these cities play an important role in meeting the local food needs. In such a situation, the direct impact of production stoppage can reach the common people.
Danger of black marketing and inflation
Pakistan Flour Mills Association has warned that if the situation does not improve soon, there may be a shortage of flour in the market. Due to this, there is also fear of hoarding, black marketing and huge increase in prices. Experts believe that this crisis can become a bigger challenge for the people who are already facing inflation.
Demand for immediate action from the government
Flour Mills Association has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to intervene. The organization has demanded that permits for wheat supply should be immediately restored and the online permit system should be restarted, so that the supply can become normal.
The association says that if a solution is not found soon, the food crisis in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas may deepen. Due to this, common people may have to face shortage of flour as well as rising inflation.
