Formation of a new government in Bangladesh and a big blow to India, air space closed; After all, what is the real reason?
Bangladesh Air Space Barred: With the change of power in Bangladesh politics, challenges have started for Indian companies. As soon as Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Tariq Rahman took charge as the Prime Minister, Bangladesh has taken a strict step against the Indian airline. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has completely blocked its airspace for Indian budget airline SpiceJet (SpiceJet Airspace Ban).
News agency PTI has quoted sources as saying that budget airline company SpiceJet has not paid the dues. Due to non-availability of airspace, some flights from Kolkata to Guwahati and Imphal are now having to take longer routes. This may impact flight times and operational costs.
SpiceJet spokesperson gave statement
According to the report of news agency PTI, SpiceJet spokesperson said that these are regular issues of the industry and we are working well to resolve them as soon as possible. There has been no impact on our flight operations and we are continuing our scheduled services as per regulatory requirements.
Why did Bangladesh take this decision?
According to media reports, sources have not yet given complete information in this matter, but they said that the ban has been imposed because SpiceJet has not paid its dues. It is not yet clear how much this outstanding amount is. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has not responded on this matter. SpiceJet says the airline is in touch with the relevant authorities.
How did you know the air space is closed?
Data from Flightradar24.com showed that SpiceJet flights from Kolkata to Guwahati and Imphal were not using Bangladesh airspace and were taking longer routes to reach the destinations. According to media reports, SpiceJet has outstanding air navigation charges for more than six months.
