New BCCI Secretary: Devjit Saikia elected as the new Secretary of BCCI, will replace Jay Shah

Devajit Saikia New BCCI Secretary: The world's most powerful cricket board i.e. BCCI has got its new secretary. Devajit Saikia has been elected as the new secretary of the board. Earlier, BCCI President Roger Binny had used his powers to appoint Saikia as the acting secretary of the board. Also, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been made the new treasurer of BCCI.

Actually, Devajit Saikia's election as BCCI Secretary was considered certain as he was the only candidate to nominate for this post. The decision to elect Saikia as secretary was taken during the Special General Meeting (SGM) of BCCI. Assam Cricket Association has congratulated Saikia on being elected as BCCI Secretary through X Post. “Historic day for the Assam cricket fraternity… Assam Cricket Association heartily congratulates Shri Devjit Saikia on his election as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),” the association wrote.

Who is the new BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia?

Devajit Saikia was born in 1969 in Guwahati. He has been a first class cricketer of Assam. Saikia has played for Assam team in CK Nayudu Trophy in the year 1984. Apart from this, he was a part of Assam Under-19 team till the year 1989. Saikia has also played for East Zone with former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. He became the joint secretary of BCCI in 2019. Ganguly was the chairman of the board at that time.
