New Chief Minister in Bihar: Nitish Kumar will decide the next government
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has filed nomination for Rajya Sabha, due to which political turmoil has increased in the state. After leaving the post of Chief Minister, political discussions have gained momentum regarding who will form the new government in Bihar.
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to go to Rajya Sabha. He filed nomination for Rajya Sabha elections in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna on Thursday. After Nitish Kumar going to Rajya Sabha, political discussions regarding the new Chief Minister in Bihar have intensified. According to sources, the new Chief Minister will be from Bharatiya Janata Party, but at present it has not been decided who will be selected for this post.
Nitish Kumar is going to Rajya Sabha
Nitish Kumar filed nomination for Rajya Sabha elections in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna on Thursday. Earlier, there was political speculation as to what would be his next step after resigning from the post of Chief Minister. Nitish himself shared the reason for this decision on social media (X). they wrote:
‘Ever since I started my parliamentary career, I had a desire to become a member of both the Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as the Parliament. This time I want to become a member of Rajya Sabha.
Nitish also assured that he will give full support and guidance to the new government formed in the state.
New Chief Minister: Who is ahead in the race?
If sources are to be believed, the next government will be formed under the leadership of BJP, but the final decision on who will be the Chief Minister will be taken by Nitish Kumar only. Meanwhile, many names are in discussion.
- Samrat Chaudhary: Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary is considered to be the frontrunner in the race for the post of Chief Minister. He is a BJP MLA from Tarapur seat and was appointed Bihar State President in March 2023. The party had chosen him specifically to strengthen the Koeri/Kushwaha community and OBC base.
- Nityanand Rai: Nityanand Rai, who has been a continuous MLA from Hajipur assembly constituency since 2000, is also in the race for the post of Chief Minister. As the state president of BJP in Bihar, he played an important role in strengthening the grassroots reach of the party.
- Dilip Jaiwal: Long time BJP leader Dilip Jaiwal is also involved in this race. He has been the state treasurer of Bihar BJP and has worked as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government.
MP Giriraj Singh said that the new government will be formed under the leadership and guidance of Nitish Kumar. He also made it clear that the new Chief Minister will be chosen only as per the wishes of Nitish Kumar. Giriraj reminded that even 3 years ago Nitish Kumar had got the opportunity to go to Rajya Sabha, but things did not work out then. Now his decision is completely personal.
Why is Nitish going to Rajya Sabha?
Explaining the reason for his decision, Nitish Kumar said that he has always wanted to gain experience of both the Houses of Parliament. His step is not only a personal achievement but also has strategic importance for Bihar. He assured the fans and the public that his guidance and support will continue even after the formation of a new government in the state.
Nitish said, I want to assure you with all sincerity that this relationship of mine with you will continue in future also and together we will fulfill our resolve of making a developed Bihar.
