New ‘digital stick’ for teachers in Bihar schools
The Education Department has taken a very strict and important decision for the teachers teaching in government schools of Bihar. To ensure punctuality and complete transparency in schools, the department has made major changes in the attendance system. Now teachers of government schools of the state will have to register their online presence on the ‘e-Shikshakosh’ portal. The Education Department believes that this new system will increase discipline in schools and its direct benefit will be to the students, who will now be able to get regular education.
Salary will be decided only based on online attendance
Under the new system, the entire time of teachers coming and going back to school will now be recorded digitally. The department has made it clear that every month the salary of teachers will be prepared on the basis of this online attendance record. If a teacher’s attendance is not recorded on the portal, it will directly impact his salary. The main objective of this step is to make the entire process accountable and transparent, so that no teacher is negligent towards his duty.
The habit of delay will prove costly
The department has implemented very strict rules regarding punctuality. As per the orders of the Education Department, if a teacher is late in coming to school thrice in a month or leaves the premises before the end of school hours, one day’s salary will be deducted from his salary. This strict rule will apply equally to all teachers. Along with this, the department has also given a strict warning to those who make fake attendance. If any kind of discrepancy or wrong information is entered in the digital system, major departmental action will be taken against the teacher.
Starting from Supaul, keeping an eye on the entire state
At present this high-tech attendance system has been started from Supaul district as a pilot project. To make this system successful, the department has handed over the responsibility to the District Education Officer (DEO), Block Education Officer (BEO) and headmasters of all the schools. These officers have been instructed to monitor it every day and send its report directly to the department. It is believed that if this system is successful in Supaul, then soon it will be strictly implemented in schools across Bihar.
