New flight of friendship: PM Modi reached Israel, Netanyahu welcomed him warmly, these issues will be discussed
Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Israel on a two-day visit. He was warmly welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with his wife Sara Netanyahu at Ben Gurion Airport. The Indian Prime Minister was also given a guard of honour.
This is PM Modi’s second visit to Israel in the last nine years. Earlier he had come here in July 2017. While sharing the video of welcome on social media platform X, Netanyahu wrote, “Welcome my friend PM Narendra Modi.”
Schedule full of historical programs-
Prime Minister Modi’s program is being described as historic. As per the scheduled programme, he will address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset and will become the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. An official reception will be held in his honor in the Knesset.
Apart from this, PM Modi will participate in the program of the Indian community and will also visit a technology exhibition. An official dinner has been organized in his honor at the King David Hotel in the evening.
On Thursday morning, PM Modi and PM Netanyahu will visit ‘Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Centre’, where heads of state visiting Israel usually pay homage. This will be followed by a detailed meeting between the two leaders, in which pre-planned agreements will be exchanged and a joint press statement will be issued.
Defense deals may be discussed-
Defense cooperation between India and Israel is also likely to be discussed during this visit. According to sources, there can be talks on deals related to drones and anti-ballistic missile systems.
Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post also published a special front page to welcome PM Modi, in which “Namaste” in Hindi and “Shalom” in Hebrew are written along with his picture. ‘Shalom’ means hello as well as peace.
PM Modi is likely to return home from Israel on Thursday afternoon. This visit is being considered an important step towards strengthening India-Israel relations.
