New international cricket stadium in NCR, to be constructed on 31 acres; Rough draft map got consent

The path to build an international cricket stadium in Ghaziabad is now completely ready. The rough draft map prepared by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) for the stadium has been approved by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). Now UPCA will apply to get the stadium map formally approved. Officials said that all the hurdles related to the construction of the stadium have been removed, due to which the construction work is likely to start soon.

A meeting was held with the Project Co-ordinator of UPCA at Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). The meeting was presided over by GDA Vice President Nand Kishore Kalal. Officials from land acquisition, engineering, planning and other related departments of the authority were also present in it. In the meeting, the problems related to the construction of the international cricket stadium were discussed and after resolving all the issues, the path for the construction work was cleared.

Rakesh Mishra, Project Coordinator of UPCA at Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) presented the prepared rough map of the cricket stadium. Officials of the planning department of the authority reviewed it and agreed to the rough draft. UPCA will now apply for formal approval of the stadium map. It is estimated that after ten days there will be another meeting between GDA and UPCA, in which this map will be placed. If GDA completely agrees, UPCA will immediately apply online to get the map passed. In the meeting, GDA Vice President Nand Kishore Kalal also instructed the officials of the Land Acquisition Section to rapidly advance the work related to the acquisition of Gram Sabha land for the cricket stadium.

FAR dispute ends

The plan to build a cricket stadium in Ghaziabad started in 2014, but then there were differences between UPCA and GDA regarding floor area ratio (FAR) and use of land. Apart from this, UPCA could not purchase some land, which will now be acquired by GDA. Also, after the introduction of new building bylaws, the FAR dispute has also ended, due to which the stadium construction process is now ready to proceed at the previous pace.

Construction will be done on 31 acres of land

An international cricket stadium is going to be constructed on about 31 acres of land in Morti of Rajnagar Extension. This stadium will be built on PPP model (Public-Private Partnership). Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard. It is estimated that under the new system, GDA can waive the land conversion charge, which will further speed up the stadium construction process.
