New method of cheating in JEE Mains, student came to the exam hiding his mobile in slippers… suspicious trick exposed

Bhilai:A shocking case of cheating has come to light during the JEE Mains 2026 examination held in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. A candidate very cleverly tried to use unfair means in the examination by hiding his mobile inside his slippers, but his plan could not last long.

Due to the vigilance of the security system, this ‘hi-tech’ trick of the accused student was caught. After the incident, the police have taken him into custody and registered a case and further investigation has been started.

Hidden mobile in slippers, dodged metal detector

This case is of 2 April 2026, when JEE Mains examination was being conducted by the National Testing Agency at Parthiv Engineering and Management College, Sirsa Kala in Bhilai-3 police station area.

Accused candidate Aditya Singh had cut the slippers and hidden the mobile phone inside them. Showing cleverness, he took off his slippers before the metal detector test at the time of entry, due to which the mobile could not be detected in the initial investigation.

Truth revealed while returning from washroom

During the examination, when the student went to the washroom for bio-break and returned, his actions exposed him. Instead of walking normally, he was seen dragging his slippers and walking with a slight limp.

On suspicion, the security personnel checked his slippers and found a mobile phone hidden in them. Seeing this, even the staff present at the spot were surprised.

Police arrested, seized mobile

As soon as information about the incident was received, the police was called through dial 112. The police reached the spot and detained the accused and confiscated his mobile phone.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 09 of Chhattisgarh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2008 and further action is underway.

What did the officer say?

Confirming the matter, the police said, ‘IIT-JEE Mains examination was organized at Parthiviya Engineering and Management College, Sirsa Kala. During this time, student Aditya Singh was trying to cheat by hiding his mobile in his slippers. When he was coming back from the bathroom, the staff saw him limping. On checking based on suspicion, a mobile phone was recovered from the slippers. Further action is being taken by registering an FIR under the Chhattisgarh Public Examination Act.
