New name and new address of PMO: Now cabinet meetings will be held in ‘Seva Teerth’ from South Block, Modi Cabinet approved the proposal.
New Delhi. The address of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has now changed. Yesterday on 13 February 2026, the last cabinet meeting was held in South Block, where an important resolution was passed. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new building complex, which has been named ‘Seva Teerth’. From now on, cabinet meetings and PMO work will take place in this new complex.
South Block and North Block were built during the British period. These buildings were symbols of colonial rule, through which India was kept in slavery for a long time. Even after independence in 1947, the administrative structure remained largely based on the same old system. Since independence, the PMO has been operating from South Block only. Now this change is a historic step, symbolizing freedom from the colonial past and a new beginning based on Indian values.
During the inauguration of Seva Teerth, Prime Minister Modi said that service is the soul and real identity of India. In this new complex, along with the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat have also come under one roof. This will make administrative functioning more efficient, integrated and citizen-centric. The motto ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ is inscribed on the wall of the campus, which strengthens the spirit of service.
According to the information received, this change is part of the Central Vista project, under which many other names have also been changed, such as Dutva Bhavan to Central Secretariat and Dutva Path to Rajpath. The government believes that these steps will move away from colonial symbols and strengthen the governance system in line with modern Indian sentiments. Seva Teerth has modern facilities, digital integration and better coordination, which will help in meeting the goals of progress and development of the country.
