New power plant to be built in Bihar, great news for this district
News Desk. In view of the increasing demand for electricity in Bihar, work is going on on a big plan in the energy sector. Preparations are being made for a new thermal power plant with 800 MW capacity in Barauni of the state. This project will be based on modern technology, due to which emphasis will be laid on saving resources along with power generation.
The land of the closed unit will be used
There will be no need to acquire separate land for the new power project. There is a plan to set up a new unit on the vacant land of the old power plant in Barauni. At present, technical investigation and possibilities related to the project are being studied. The construction work is expected to proceed after getting the relevant approvals.
New facility to store electricity
There is also a plan to install battery energy storage system in this project. This will be a new initiative for Bihar. This facility will help in maintaining the availability of electricity at the time of need. When electricity demand is low, excess energy can be stored and used during peak consumption times.
Also beneficial for the environment
Ultra supercritical technology will be used in the proposed plant. This technology is considered more effective than normal power plants. This can reduce the consumption of coal for power generation. Besides, emissions of polluting gases will reduce and the need for water will also reduce.
Electricity capacity will increase in Bihar
Apart from Barauni, work is also being done on the possibilities of setting up new units in the power stations located in Kahalgaon and Kanti of the state. After the completion of these projects, the power generation capacity of Bihar will be strengthened and will help in meeting the energy needs of the state in the coming times.
