New railway line will pass through UP, good news for these districts

News Desk. Once again news of great relief is coming for the people of Uttar Pradesh. The long stalled process regarding the proposed new railway line from Unchahar to Amethi via Salon is now going to move forward again. Railways has started preparations to prepare a new route chart for this project. Its survey and route determination work is likely to start between February and March.

Three districts will get direct rail connectivity

This railway line will pass through about 66 villages in Rae Bareli, Amethi and Pratapgarh districts. Upon completion of the project, the connectivity of these areas will be strengthened, which will not only provide convenience to the passengers, but will also create new opportunities for trade, industry and employment. This line will play an important role in connecting rural areas with the main rail network.

Old plan, new route

The discussion of this rail project first started in the eighties. The objective was to connect Amethi with Ayodhya through rail route. Later, its foundation stone was laid in Salon in November 2013 and the then Central Government had also fixed a budget of Rs 1331 crore for it. In this, a separate amount was earmarked for the Unchahar-Salon-Amethi section.

After the declaration of the special project, land survey and marking was also done in the year 2018–19. However, as the proposed route in Salon area passes through an industrial area, entrepreneurs objected, after which the administration recommended an alternative route. For this reason this project went on hold for some time.

Now the process will start again

According to the railway administration, now it has been decided to take this project forward afresh. A new route chart will be prepared between February and March and after that further formalities will be completed. This has raised hopes that this plan which has been stuck for years will now move towards reality.

Regional development will gain momentum

With the construction of Unchahar-Amethi railway line, local people will get better transportation, farmers will get convenience in taking their products to the market and youth will get new employment options. Overall, this project can prove to give a new direction to the development of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The resumption of this scheme after a long wait has once again awakened hope among the people of the area that soon the railway whistle will echo from their villages.
