New rates of petrol and diesel released amid rising crude oil, know today’s price in your city from Delhi to Hyderabad:
New Delhi. Amid the ongoing fluctuations in crude oil prices in the global market and record weakness of the rupee against the dollar today. Saturday, March 21, 2026 The latest rates of petrol and diesel have been released. The country’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) announced fuel prices at 6 am. Although prices have remained stable in major metros for a long time, they are expected to cross $100 in the future due to international tensions and supply chain disruptions.
Condition of metropolitan cities: Cheapest oil in Delhi, most expensive in Hyderabad.
Even today, the prices of petrol and diesel remain the lowest in the country’s capital Delhi, whereas in Hyderabad, customers have to shell out the most.
Latest rates of major cities (21 March 2026):
| City | Petrol (₹/litre) | Diesel (₹/Litre) |
|---|---|---|
| New Delhi | 94.72 | 87.62 |
| Lucknow | 94.69 | 87.80 |
| Mumbai | 104.21 | 92.15 |
| Hyderabad | 107.46 | 95.70 |
| Jaipur | 104.72 | 90.21 |
| Bengaluru | 102.92 | 89.02 |
| Patna | 105.58 | 93.80 |
Why are prices not changing?
Prices in the domestic market are relatively stable due to tax cuts by the central and state governments from May 2022 onwards. However, oil companies review every morning based on international benchmarks and exchange rates (Dollar vs Rupee). If the rupee continues to fall like this against the dollar, the pressure on oil companies to increase prices may increase in the future.
3 big factors determining fuel prices
Crude Oil: India imports more than 80% of its oil needs. Global demand and war-like situations (such as the Middle East crisis) directly impact prices.
Dollar-Rupee Exchange: Oil is imported in dollars. The weakness of the rupee means India will have to pay more to buy oil.
Tax and VAT: Due to different central excise duty and state VAT, there is a difference of ₹ 10 to ₹ 15 in prices in different cities of the same country.
