New Renault Duster’s Segment-Leading 7 Year Warranty Explained

Renault launched the new Duster in the Indian market, and it has already started reaching dealerships. The price for the Renault Duster starts at Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom, and one of the most interesting aspects people are talking about apart from the price is its warranty plan. Renault is offering a 7-year warranty on the Duster. What exactly is this warranty? We explain.

The reason Renault is offering a 7-year warranty on the Duster is to ensure that customers can confidently buy the product without worrying about potential issues. It also shows how confident they are in their product. Renault has also mentioned that the warranty is transferable to subsequent owners, which can help improve resale value.

On paper, the 7-year warranty sounds very attractive. However, did you know it is not a single standard warranty? Renault has divided the 7-year warranty plan into two parts: a standard warranty and an additional warranty pack.

The standard warranty on the Renault Duster is valid for 3 years or 1 lakh km, whichever comes first. This starts from the day of purchase. Renault has clearly mentioned on its website that, for warranty purposes, it is important that the vehicle is serviced based on either the kilometres driven or the age of the vehicle. The owner must also ensure that all services are carried out at an authorised Renault service centre.

Now comes the second part, which is the additional warranty pack. This is available for up to a maximum of 4 years. It is part of the Renault Forever Programme, and when combined with the standard warranty, it offers a total of 7 years of coverage.

Under the additional warranty, Renault India offers customers extended coverage beyond the standard warranty. This additional warranty begins immediately after the expiry of the standard warranty, subject to certain conditions. The vehicle’s mileage should not exceed 1,50,000 kilometres, and the vehicle’s age should be less than seven years.

The customer must ensure that periodic maintenance is carried out once a year or every 10,000 km, as specified in the warranty terms and conditions. All scheduled services must be completed without interruption or delay each year at an authorised Renault dealership to activate the additional warranty for 1 year or 10,000 km, whichever comes earlier. This can be renewed annually for up to 4 years after the expiry of the standard 3-year warranty.

It is the customer’s responsibility to follow the periodic maintenance schedule recommended by Renault India. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation or termination of the additional warranty.

The additional warranty is offered free of cost, but it is applicable only if the customer follows all the above-mentioned terms and conditions. The good thing about this programme is that the warranty remains valid even if the owner decides to sell the vehicle. The subsequent owner will also need to follow the same terms and conditions to continue availing the warranty benefits.
