New revolution of rail connectivity in UP: Sitapur-Burhwal line will change the transport map of the country.

To strengthen the railway network in the country, the Central Government has approved multi-tracking projects on a large scale. One of these important projects is the expansion of Sitapur-Burhwal rail line, which is going to give a new direction to the connectivity of many states including Uttar Pradesh. This project is part of the comprehensive rail expansion plan, the total cost of which is said to be around Rs 23,437 crore.

More than 6 states will get benefits

The impact of this rail project will not be limited to Uttar Pradesh alone, rather it will become an important link connecting many states of the country. The capacity of the rail network will increase in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

According to Railways, these projects will provide better connectivity to about 19 districts and thousands of villages, which will directly benefit lakhs of people.

Big boost to freight transportation and industry

The expansion of Sitapur-Burhwal and other railway lines will significantly increase the capacity to transport goods. This network will make transportation of important goods like coal, food grains, cement, petroleum products, steel and fertilizers faster and cheaper. Experts believe that this will reduce logistics costs and industries will get direct benefits, which will accelerate economic activities.

Passengers will get relief

The main goal of this project is to reduce the pressure of railway traffic. Capacity utilization on many major routes is more than 160%, due to which delays in trains have become common. Construction of new lines will increase the speed of trains, save time and provide better experience to the passengers.

Promotion of tourism and religious places

Railway expansion will make access to many major tourist and religious places of the country easier. Connectivity to places like Mahakaleshwar, Vrindavan, Ranthambore and Naimisharanya will improve, which will also give a new impetus to the tourism industry.

Impact on employment and environment

Such mega rail projects are likely to generate lakhs of man-days of employment during construction. Also, rail is more environment friendly than road transport, which will reduce carbon emissions.

Vision related to PM Gati Shakti Yojana

This project has been prepared under the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan, which aims to strengthen multimodal connectivity and modernize the country’s infrastructure.
