Delhi Air Pollution: The havoc of pollution continues in Delhi. New rules have been implemented today to free the people of Delhi from poisonous air. Under which, vehicles will not be able to fill oil at all the petrol pumps in the capital without a valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC). The government has directed petrol pump operators to check the validity of PUCC before providing fuel to vehicles.
While number plate recognition system and ground inspection of vehicles will be used to check the pollution status and emission categories of vehicles. However, ambulances, fire engines, police vehicles and vehicles transporting essential goods have been kept out of this ban.
Delhi’s Environment Minister announced restrictions
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday announced this ban along with several other measures to deal with the unbearable pollution levels in Delhi. He said that the Delhi government is committed to reducing vehicular smoke, which is a major cause of air pollution. To strictly enforce this order, traffic police personnel have been deployed at petrol pumps.

Apart from this, officials of Transport Department and Municipal Corporation have also been deployed at petrol pumps. Let us tell you that after this order of the government, there was a long queue of people coming to update PUC (Public-Purchase Account) on Wednesday.

Policemen deployed in the city
To make the campaign being run to prevent pollution in Delhi successful, 580 policemen have been deployed across the city. While 37 Prakhar vans have been deployed at 126 monitoring centres. Which are identifying and challaning the vehicles passing through petrol pumps and roads.

Drivers criticized the order
Many motorists have also protested against this decision of the government. He said that in many other cities pollution is under control even without this rule. A driver said that this move will cause problems to office goers. People say whether doing this will reduce pollution? There is not so much pollution in other states, why has it increased only in Delhi? Petrol is sold at all other places also.
