New rule in MP from March 1, now only online application for arms license
If you are thinking of buying a gun or other weapon in Madhya Pradesh, then be more cautious now than before. The arms licensing process is going to change completely from March 1. Now the facility of filling the papers in the old way and submitting them in the office will end.
Madhya Pradesh government has made it clear that now only online applications will be accepted for arms license. This means that without online application, neither a new license will be given nor any offline form will be valid. The government says that this decision will make the entire arms licensing process transparent and safe.
What is the major change in MP arms license process?
The decision to digitalize the arms licensing process in Madhya Pradesh has been taken after several complaints and irregularities. Recently, there were reports of irregularities in license issuance and cartridge distribution from different districts.
In view of these matters, the government has now decided to make the entire arms licensing process online. After March 1, new license, renewal or application under sports quota, everything will be online only.
The main objective of this change is that the records of every applicant are recorded digitally and can be easily tracked. Now the scope for any kind of recommendation or paper manipulation will be greatly reduced.
How to apply for arms license online?
According to the new rules, the applicant will have to apply online for arms license by visiting the authorized portal of the Government of India. All necessary documents have to be uploaded while applying.
When the application is complete, the system will issue a unique file number. Through this number the applicant will be able to track the status of his application. If needed, a printout of the application can be taken out on the basis of the same number and submitted as per the prescribed procedure.
One thing to note is that if a person does not apply online and submits the offline form directly, he/she will not be accepted. After March 1, only online arms license applications will be valid.
Why was it necessary to make the arms license process online?
In the past years, complaints had come from many districts that the rules were not being followed properly in issuing licenses. In some cases, it also came to light that wrong people were getting licenses. There were also reports of irregularities in cartridge distribution.
In such a situation, the government decided to completely digitalize the arms licensing process. Now the record of every application will be online. The process of police verification, document verification and approval will also be recorded in the system. With this, those breaking the rules can be easily identified. Besides, administrative control will be strengthened and transparency will increase.
The entire process will be transparent and trackable
The new online arms license process will record every step of the application. When the application was submitted, when the police verification took place, which officer saw the file, all this will be recorded in the system.
This will make it easier to monitor not only new licenses but also renewals and licenses issued under sports quota. Where earlier it took time to find files, now everything will be available instantly with the digital system. The government believes that this system will make the arms licensing process safe, reliable and fast.
