Obnews Tech Desk: Increasing technology has made our life easier. But along with this many challenges have also come in our life. One common challenge among these challenges is cyber fraud. Let us tell you that through cyber fraud, the bank accounts of many people are being wiped out. As soon as the government issues new guidelines to avoid cyber fraud, cyber thugs come up with a new trick.
If you understand carefully, you will find that all these have only one root, that is the SIM card. This is because at present any cyber scamming is happening through phone numbers only. In such a situation, to curb cyber scamming, the Prime Minister's Office i.e. PMO has given an important instruction to the Telecom Department.
Aadhaar based biometric verification is necessary for SIM card connection.
According to the instructions issued by the PMO, now Aadhaar based biometric verification has been made mandatory for all new SIM card connections. Through this step, the increasing misuse of mobile connections through fake documents will be stopped. The work of purchasing illegal SIM cards is done through fake documents.
According to the released report, earlier users used to use any government ID like Voter ID or Passport to get a new mobile connection. However, biometric verification through Aadhaar is still required to activate a new SIM card. But, now retailers will no longer be able to sell SIM cards without following this rule.
Connectivity of multiple SIM cards on a single device
