New trap of cyber fraud: Cheating of two lakhs through fake PM Kisan link, avoid it like this
Cyber thugs are adopting new methods every day to rob people. A recent case has come to light in Faridabad, where about two lakh rupees were stolen from the bank account of a farmer by sending a fake link of PM Kisan Yojana.
The victim says that even though he did not fill any information in the link, money was deducted from his account. Cyber Police Station Central has started investigating the matter. Similarly, in Hyderabad also Rs 1.9 lakh was defrauded from the account of a person.
How did the fraud happen? What did the victim tell?
In the complaint given to the police, the farmer, resident of Shyam Colony Part-2, Sehatpur, Faridabad, said that:
A message came on his mobile phone from an unknown number.
“PM Kisan Yojana” was written in the message and a link was given.
Out of curiosity, he opened the link, which automatically downloaded a fake app.
Before they could understand anything, two lakh rupees had been deducted from the bank account.
After this incident, he immediately lodged a complaint on cyber helpline number 1930. The police have now started investigating the matter.
Adopt these 8 security measures to avoid cyber frauds
1. Avoid unknown calls and offers:
Ignore any message or call that offers big rewards, schemes or government schemes.
2. Do not share your banking and personal information with anyone:
Do not share sensitive information like bank, credit card, debit card, Aadhaar, PAN card, OTP, CVV with anyone.
3. Beware of fake websites and apps:
Any information related to government schemes is available only on the official website (https://pmkisan.gov.in/) get from.
4. Do not open suspicious links or unknown websites:
Do not download any unknown link, QR code or app, even if it is sent by a friend or relative.
5. Don't fall into the trap of earning too much or lottery:
If someone calls or messages and talks about “earning more money in less time”, then understand that he is a cyber fraudster.
6. Avoid apps with prepayment fees:
Do not download any app which asks for high processing fees, pre-closure fees or prepayment charges.
7. Browse only on safe and authorized websites:
Avoid opening porn sites, unverified websites or suspicious links.
Open a site only after seeing “ and green lock symbol” in the URL.
8. Do not accept friend requests from unknown people:
Before accepting a friend request from a stranger on social media, do your due diligence.
