New Delhi. Now a new turn has come in the ongoing defamation dispute between famous playback singer Kumar Sanu and his ex-wife Rita Bhattacharya. The singer has indicated that he is ready to withdraw the defamation case of ₹50 crore filed against his ex-wife if she publicly apologizes.
This case is going on in the Bombay High Court, where this condition was put forward by the singer during the recent hearing. According to the information, Sanu alleges that his ex-wife made such statements in several interviews (Sanu alleges that his ex-wife) which damaged his image (damaged his image and objectionable) and also said objectionable things about his family.
Why did you have to take such a big step?
Kumar Sanu’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan told the media that in some interviews, serious allegations were made about the character of the singer and his family. Sanu termed these statements as insulting to his reputation.
According to the lawyer, when this matter continued to escalate and the statements did not stop, Singer had to approach the court to protect his image.
The court had given interim relief
In this case, the Bombay High Court had already given interim relief to the singer and stopped his ex-wife from making derogatory statements against him. During the hearing, the court advised both the parties that since they had a long-standing relationship and also had children, it would be better if they tried to end the dispute by mutual consent.
The dispute can end if you apologize
Singer’s legal team says that Kumar Sanu respects the advice of the court and is in favor of ending the case. But a condition has been set for this, Rita Bhattacharya will have to apologize publicly on all the platforms where she had given statements against Sanu. If this happens, the singer is ready to withdraw the case, but if the apology is not given, then she is fully prepared to pursue this defamation case of ₹ 50 crore.
The lawyer also says that these statements were circulated without verification on many media platforms and social media, causing damage to Sanu’s reputation over the years. Now his legal team is also trying to remove those videos and social media reels that are still available on the internet.
