New Year 2026: Delhi Metro facilities on New Year, know everything from timings to exit restrictions
If you are planning to hit the streets of Delhi on the night of 31 December 2025, then Delhi Metro can prove to be the safest and most convenient option for you. To avoid traffic jams and parking hassles, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made special arrangements for passengers this time too. DMRC officials are saying that additional trains and security measures have been ensured for the convenience of passengers during heavy rush and festivals.
Although DMRC usually announces the official metro timings for New Year night 2–3 days in advance, but based on the experience of previous years, it is believed that the timings of metro services will be extended this time too. On normal days, Delhi Metro runs from 6 am to 11 or 11:30 pm. But on the night of December 31, metro services may continue till 12:30 midnight or beyond, to ensure convenient and safe travel to the passengers.
Metro changed timings for 30th and 31st December
According to the information, the last trains on busy lines like Blue Line, Yellow Line and Airport Express can be run till late night, so that the crowd of more passengers and traffic problems can be avoided. DMRC is likely to release the exact time table on December 30 or 31, allowing passengers to plan their journey in a predictable and safe manner.
Number of QR tickets will be limited at some stations
In view of the huge crowd on the night of New Year 2026, DMRC may make some strict arrangements for crowd control. According to sources, late night exits may be banned at highly crowded stations like Rajiv Chowk, while entry will continue. Additionally, the number of QR tickets may be limited at some stations, to ensure safe and orderly travel.
There is a possibility of heavy crowd at these stations
There is a possibility of heavy crowd at stations like Rajiv Chowk, Hauz Khas, Kashmiri Gate and Central Secretariat on New Year night. Passengers are advised to check updates from DMRC website, mobile app or official social media handles before travelling. Leave on time and use the nearest alternative station if necessary.
