New Year gift for Delhiites: Government taxi service starting to compete with Ola-Uber
The government is bringing a new gift for the people of Delhi. This government taxi service, which is being started on the initiative of the Ministry of Cooperation of the Central Government, will start operating on the roads of the capital from January 1. The service aims to provide affordable, reliable and driver friendly taxi services to passengers through the Sahakar model. This initiative is being considered a big challenge for private taxi companies Ola-Uber.
Bharat Taxi will be operated first in Delhi. From January 1, common people will be able to book a taxi by downloading Bharat Taxi app on their mobile phones. During the trial, the service was tested by providing phone numbers to thousands of people, thereby testing the functionality and operation of the system. This ensured that the service worked completely reliably and uninterrupted.
How will Bharat Taxi work and what will be the facilities?
Bharat Taxi service is now being launched with auto, car and bike options, providing convenient transportation options to passengers ranging from short to long distances. The Ministry of Cooperation has completed all necessary preparations for this. After Delhi, the trial will soon be completed in Rajkot, Gujarat and the service will start there too. The biggest feature of this service is its cooperative model. In this, priority has been given to the income and welfare of the drivers. 80% of the total earnings of Bharat Taxi will go directly to the drivers, while the remaining amount of about 20% will also be used for their operating expenses and welfare activities, thereby providing them long-term benefits.
Large participation and strong base of drivers
More than 56,000 drivers have so far registered for Bharat Taxi service in Delhi. This figure shows that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the driver community about the government cooperation model. Such a large registration indicates that sufficient number of vehicles will be available once the service starts, so passengers will not face the problem of waiting. Operating under a cooperative model, the taxi service claims to provide drivers with stable income and better working conditions. This model is considered more sustainable as the commission is lower compared to private companies and a large part of the income reaches the drivers directly. Because of this, the trust of drivers on this new service has increased further.
New challenge for private taxi companies
Bharat Taxi is being seen as a strong challenger to private taxi services like Ola, Uber and Rapido. Bharat Taxi rates are likely to be comparatively cheaper due to the cooperative model. The government believes that low fares, transparent system and focus on driver interests will make this service more popular among passengers. After the Bharat Taxi app becomes public from January 1, it will become clear how fast the service can make its place in the market. With expansion to Rajkot after Delhi, the service is likely to expand to other cities. With this, the government cooperative model taxi service is expected to get recognition at the national level.
Features and Security
Bharat Taxi app offers features like user-friendly mobile booking, transparent fare structure, real-time vehicle tracking, multilingual interface and 24×7 customer support. In terms of security, the app includes features like integration with Delhi Police and other agencies, verified driver onboarding and shared ride details. This app is available on both Android and iOS platforms and is extremely easy to use. Users can register with mobile number, enter pick-up and drop location, choose a ride and travel with live tracking. This service will be expanded to more than 20 cities in the future.
