New Year 2026: The world celebrated the New Year with great pomp on 1 January 2026. As soon as midnight struck in different time zones, the sky became colorful with fireworks. Somewhere there were loud celebrations, somewhere quiet traditions were followed. Every country embraces the New Year according to its culture and environment. Let’s see how this happy moment was celebrated in some major places of the world.

Enthusiasm about security shown in India

New Year was celebrated with full enthusiasm in India. A huge crowd of people gathered at Delhi’s India Gate and Connaught Place. The party and fireworks continued till late night. Delhi Police deployed about 20 thousand personnel for security. In areas like Connaught Place, strict monitoring was kept on drunk driving and stunts.

There was excitement on MG Road and Brigade Road in Bengaluru. Tourists who had come to enjoy snowfall at tourist places like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg in Kashmir Valley, were busy welcoming the New Year. Special programs were also organized at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. There was a festive atmosphere throughout the country.

Countries that entered the new year first

Kiribati, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean, first stepped forward in 2026. On Christmas Island, local people gathered to celebrate in the traditional way. After this came New Zealand’s turn. Spectacular fireworks from Auckland’s Sky Tower. Despite the rain, thousands of people took to the streets. About 3500 fireworks were released from the tower, which continued for five minutes.

Celebration under the shadow of sadness in Australia

New Year was welcomed in Sydney with fireworks on the Harbor Bridge. But the shooting incident at Bondi Beach a few weeks ago affected the atmosphere. 15 people were killed in this attack. Despite this, thousands of people participated in the celebration. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of the victims and special lighting was done on the bridge. Security was very strict during this period.

Asia’s diverse festivals

Different styles were seen everywhere in Asia. In Japan, people start the New Year by ringing bells in temples. The sound of bells and a display of lights took place in Seoul. Fireworks in Singapore and Bangkok made the night colorful. There was a spectacular sight of laser show, music and fireworks on Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Drumming and celebrations took place on the Great Wall near Beijing. People were seen dancing and singing wearing 2026 caps.

Due to floods in some parts of Indonesia, large events were limited and prayer meetings were held. Hong Kong canceled fireworks due to security reasons and organized alternative programs.

Entire city lit up with fireworks in Europe

The cities of Europe presented a mixture of tradition and new methods. In London, the whole city lit up with the bells of Big Ben and fireworks on the River Thames. Grand demonstrations were also held in Paris, Rome and Madrid. In Athens and Berlin, low-noise fireworks and drone shows were held with children and pets in mind. Beach parties, music and fireworks took place in Rio de Janeiro, USA and Brazil.

People were seen jumping on seven waves and praying for good luck. Preparations were in full swing for the famous ball drop at Times Square in New York. Additional security arrangements were made there.

Sadness amidst hope in Gaza

Displaced people in war-torn Gaza are starting the New Year in tents. Many people said that 2025 was a year of sorrow and loss. Now they are hoping that peace will come in 2026 and the war will end.
