New Zealand emerges as First team in 21st century to Visit India and complete this run-chase record

New Zealand ended their streak of loss on Indian ground in Test cricket after 36 years. However, facing a team that has been dominating like no other team at home grounds, New Zealand became the first team in 21st century to successfully chase down a target of more than 100 runs in India.

India lost by 8 wickets. This is the third time a visitor team has managed to beat India even after no play being possible on Day 1 of Test.

Following their dismissal for 46 in their first innings, India made a comeback with 462 runs in their second innings.

Last time New Zealand won a Test in India was at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in 1988.

On Day 5 of the Test, New Zealand openers went back early on in their chase of 107. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Tom Latham and Devon Conway with the new ball. The unbeaten knocks by Will young and Rachin Ravindra made way for New Zealand to complete their target in 27.4 overs with 8 wickets remaining.
