New Zealand make massive gains with victory over India

The first Test of the 3-match series between India and New Zealand saw the Black Caps emerge victorious and win their first Test on Indian soil in 36 years. The visitors comprehensively won the match in Bengaluru by 8 wickets after only being given a target of 107 to chase by the Men in Blue.

This win saw New Zealand jump from 7th to 4th place on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with a win percentage of 44.44. Will Young remained unbeaten on 48 while Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten on 39 while guiding the visitors to victory.

On the other hand, though India remained on the top spot on the WTC points table, their win percentage dropped from 74.24 to 68.06. Meanwhile, Australia on the second spot have a win percentage of 62.50.

The next 2 Tests of the New Zealand series will be very crucial for India as another loss can see them drop to the second spot on the WTC points table.
