ICC Women's World Cup title named after New Zealand

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup has got its new champion. Where New Zealand has won the title of Women's T20 World Cup 2024. In this final match played in Dubai, the Kiwi team displayed a tremendous game and won the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time by defeating the South African women's team by 32 runs.

New Zealand becomes Women's T20 World Cup champion

In the final match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, the teams of New Zealand and South Africa came to win this title for the first time, where the New Zealand team, batting first, scored 158 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the South African team could score only 126 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs and the New Zealand women's team won the cup for the first time.

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and decided to field first. After which Suzy Bates and Georgia Plimer came to play for the New Zealand women's team. The start was nothing special, with Plimer soon getting going. But after this, Suzie Bates scored 32 runs in 31 balls and Amelia Carr scored 43 runs in 38 balls. And laid the foundation for the team's good score. After this, in the last overs, Brook Halliday scored a quick 38 runs in 28 balls, taking the New Zealand team's score to 158 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Nonkululeko Mlaba got 2 successes for South Africa.

South Africa women's team could score 126 runs for 9 wickets

After this, the South African team set out to chase the target of 159 runs, where their openers, captain Laura Walvaards and Anneke Boch gave a great start. They raised hopes of victory by making a partnership of 51 runs for the first wicket, but then made an amazing comeback and took 6 wickets within 100 runs and eliminated South Africa from the match. Captain Laura definitely scored 33 runs. But apart from that, no one could bat much and the Proteas Women's team could only score 20 overs on the wicket. Once again South Africa faced disappointment. Amelia Carr took 3 wickets for New Zealand.

New Zealand became champion for the first time in the history of Women's T20 World Cup. She was playing her third final match.
