New Zealand won the T20 World Cup title, African team proved to be chokers in the final, defeated by 32 runs

Dubai: Once again the African team proved to be 'chokers' in the final of the T20 World Cup. The only difference this time was that the African women's team lost the T20 World Cup title. Earlier, the African men's team had lost the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against India. In the final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand won the title by defeating South Africa by 32 runs.

The title match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 between Africa and New Zealand was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. In the match, Africa won the toss and decided to bowl. The decision to bowl first proved to be a big mistake for Africa. Batting first, New Zealand scored 158/5 in 20 overs.

Amelia Kerr played the biggest innings for New Zealand, she scored 43 runs in 38 balls with the help of 4 fours. Chasing the target of 159 runs, the South African team collapsed in front of the New Zealand bowlers. Captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tajmin Britts, who came to open, gave a good start to the team. Both added 51 runs (41 balls) for the first wicket. This brilliant partnership ended in the 7th over when Tajmin Brits returned to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs in 18 balls with the help of 1 four.

Africa collapsed in chase of runs

The African team could not recover after this first wicket. From here the team lost wickets quickly. After this, the team got the second blow in the 10th over in the form of captain Laura Wolvaardt, who returned to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs in 27 balls with the help of 5 fours. Then the team also lost the third wicket in the 10th over. This time Anneke Bosch was out who scored 09 runs in 13 balls with the help of 1 four. Moving ahead, the next blow to Africa came in the form of Marijne Kapp (08) on the score of 77 runs on the last ball of the 12th over.

Then the team lost the fifth wicket on the first ball of the next i.e. 12th over at the score of 77 runs. Africa lost its fifth wicket in the form of Nadine de Klerk (06). Then the team lost the sixth wicket on the first ball of the 16th over, the seventh wicket on the third ball of the 18th over, the eighth wicket on the first ball of the 19th over and the ninth wicket on the fifth ball of the 19th over. In 20 overs, the African team could score only 126/9 runs on the board.
