Six newly elected members from Tamil Nadu took their oaths in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, marking the beginning of their tenure in the Upper House of Parliament.
The ceremony, held in the presence of Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan, Deputy Chairman Harivansh, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, saw floor leaders of all parties in attendance.
Representing Tamil Nadu, the new members include Constandine Ravindran and Tiruchi Siva from DMK, Christopher Manickam, L K Sudhish, M Thambidurai, and Ambumani Ramadoss. Most members took the oath in their respective regional languages, reflecting Tamil Nadu’s cultural and linguistic identity in the national legislature.
Chairman Radhakrishnan congratulated the members on their election, highlighting the importance of their role in representing Tamil Nadu’s interests in Parliament.
The presence of multiple parties from the state underscores the diverse political voice that Tamil Nadu brings to national policymaking.
