New Delhi . Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have withdrawn Rs 22,194 crore from Indian stock markets this month. This withdrawal has come after an investment of Rs 15,446 crore in the month of December. Some factors are believed to be responsible for the FPI selling by foreign investors. Weak quarterly results of companies, strengthening of dollar, intensification of tariff war under Donald Trump administration and also confusion in Indian markets are being considered as the main reasons for this selloff. Foreign investors have also reduced their investments due to the low level of the Indian rupee, US bond yields and high valuations of the Indian stock market. According to disseminated data, foreign portfolio investors have pulled out Rs 22,194 crore from Indian stocks this month. Market experts said investors were pulling out of emerging markets due to the rise in the dollar index, the yield on 10-year bonds and other factors. Last year he had made a net investment of only Rs 427 crore in Indian shares. Whereas in 2023 he had invested Rs 1.71 lakh crore.
