News of removal of Gautam Gambhir is baseless, BCCI clearly denies it

Tezzbuzz Desk- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now given an official response to the ongoing speculations regarding Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has clearly said that the news of removal of Gautam Gambhir from the post of coach is completely baseless and wrong.

Recently, it was being claimed in the media that after the defeat in the two-match Test series against South Africa, a senior BCCI official had talked to former Indian batsman VVS Laxman about becoming the coach of the Test team. After these reports, discussions regarding Gambhir’s future intensified.

A report claimed that an important BCCI official had informally contacted VVS Laxman to find out if he was interested in becoming the coach of the red ball team. However, the same report also said that Laxman is satisfied with the post of Head of Cricket at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Putting an end to these speculations, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in the conversation, “This news is completely wrong. It is completely based on speculations. Some reputed news agencies are also running it, but there is no truth in it. BCCI has directly denied it. This is completely fabricated and factually incorrect news.”

Mixed opinions are emerging regarding the coaching tenure of Gautam Gambhir. His record in limited overs cricket has been strong and under his leadership the Indian team has won one ICC and one ACC trophy. However, the picture has not been as strong in red ball cricket.

After India’s defeat in 10 Test matches against SENA countries, questions are being raised on Gambhir’s strategy and style as the coach of the Test team. Despite this, BCCI has made it clear that at present no change in the coaching staff is being considered.

After this official statement of BCCI, all the ongoing discussions regarding Gautam Gambhir have come to an end for the time being. The board has bluntly said that the news related to the post of coach is only a rumor and there is no fact in it.
