Khaleda Zia’s daughter-in-law left for London (UK) on a Qatar Airways flight from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:30 am on Saturday. Zubaida Rehman had reached Dhaka on December 5, when the health of BNP president and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia had deteriorated. She had come to the country as part of preparations to take Khaleda Zia to Britain for better treatment. But now, amidst the uproar in the country, she has gone back to London.

Tariq Rahman will return to Dhaka

Meanwhile, according to the information of BBC Bangla, BNP acting president Tariq Rahman is likely to return to the country on December 25. According to the report of state news agency BSS, Zubaida Rahman will also return to Dhaka at the same time with Tariq Rahman.

Why did Zubaida return?

Zubaida Rehman’s flight will reach London’s Heathrow Airport after a stopover in Sylhet. His return to London comes at a time when Khaleda Zia’s doctors said a day earlier that the condition of the 79-year-old BNP chief has become stable. Khaleda Zia’s health has been deteriorating for a long time. Meanwhile, a relief news has come out on Friday, doctors have said that his condition is now stable.

Khaleda Zia is being treated by a medical board of local and international experts. Professor AZM Zahid Hussain, a member of the board and Khaleda Zia’s personal doctor, told reporters on Friday that her condition has remained largely stable for the last one month.

Khaleda Zia, the president of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka due to various health problems since November 23. Later he was shifted to Coronary Care Unit (CCU). On December 11, he was put on ventilator support to give rest to his lungs and other organs.

Last week, there was a plan to take her to London with the approval of the medical board, but the air ambulance provided by Qatar could not reach Dhaka, due to which she could not go to London.

Uproar over Hadi’s death

After Hadi’s death, there was unrest in many areas in Bangladesh. Hadi was a prominent student leader. Just a few days ago he was shot in the head. After this he was undergoing treatment in Singapore. But, Hadi could not be saved. He died on Thursday.

As soon as the chief advisor of the interim government, Mohammad Yunus, announced the news of Hadi’s death, violence spread across the country. People not only set fire on the streets but violence was also carried out at media offices in the country. The offices of two major newspapers of the country – Daily Star and Prothom Alo – were vandalized.
