Brain tumor will be treated without surgery

State’s first centralized cancer block will be built in AIIMS

Bhopal . The year 2026 is going to bring a big relief for cancer patients of Madhya Pradesh. The state’s first dedicated centralized cancer block is being prepared at AIIMS Bhopal. After its launch, patients will be relieved to a great extent from months long waiting lists for tests and surgeries. At present, patients have to wait for six months to a year, but in the new system this problem will almost end. AIIMS administration is working seriously to complete this project within the stipulated deadline of 2026.
According to sources, a high-level meeting will be held soon regarding the construction of cancer block, purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment and financial approvals, so that any budget related hurdles can be removed.

Brain tumor will be treated without surgery
According to officials, in the new cancer block, all world-class treatment facilities will be available in one complex. Modern machines like Gamma Knife are being installed here, which will make accurate treatment of complex brain tumors possible without any incision. Apart from this, facilities of PET-CT scan and advanced radiotherapy will also be available here.

Serious patients will get priority
In view of the increasing number of patients, ‘Smart Screening System’ will be implemented in AIIMS Bhopal. Every patient coming to the hospital will be initially examined. Once cancer is confirmed, patients will be classified based on the severity of the disease. Treatment will be started immediately by giving priority to serious patients, while patients with symptoms will be sent to the concerned departments for further investigation.

More than 36 thousand patients every year
According to AIIMS data, every year more than 36 thousand cancer patients come here for treatment, out of which about 60 percent patients come from outside Bhopal. The maximum number of patients come from Agar-Malwa (3664), Raisen (1776), Vidisha (1536) and Narmadapuram (1216) districts. This situation also points to limited facilities for cancer treatment at the district level.
