Tribal family imprisoned in their own house in Mandla, fenced with barbed wires

Mandala: In village Bhadiya of Bamhani police station area, a tribal family was locked in their house and taken hostage. Along with this, barbed wire fencing was also installed around his house. In such a situation, the entire family including children was imprisoned in the house. After receiving information about this, the Tehsildar reached the spot along with the police force. After which the lock was broken after giving advice to both the victim and the accused.

The victim’s family has been living in the house for 10 years.

Victim Jayanti Maravi told that “about 10 years ago, she had built her house on government land and since then she has been living in the same house along with her family. But later with the consent of the Gram Panchayat, that land has been allotted in the name of another villager. Now a dispute is going on between the two parties. Regarding this dispute, the other party and the Panchayat are accused of fencing around the house and locking the house.

The matter is pending in the court

There is a dispute going on between the two parties regarding this land for a long time. This matter is currently pending in the court. The aggrieved party alleges that without following any judicial order and statutory procedure, barbed wire fencing was done around their house by the Panchayat.

The family remained confined to the house overnight

Victim Jayanti Maravi says, “At night, the main door of the house was locked from outside, due to which the children and the entire family were imprisoned inside the house. The family remained under the shadow of fear and tension throughout the night. If any untoward incident had happened during this period, who would have been responsible for it?”

The lock was broken in the presence of police

As soon as information about this incident was received, Tehsildar Pooja Rana and Bamhani police immediately reached the spot. Tehsildar Pooja Rana told that “Jayanti Maravi had complained that barbed wire fencing had been done around her house. Along with this, the gate of the house had been locked. After listening to both the parties on this, it became clear that locking the house was not appropriate from the humanitarian point of view.

Counseling was given to both the parties in the presence of administration and police. After which the lock of the house was broken and the wire fencing was removed. “It was also explained to the other party that the matter is pending in the court and further action will be taken as per the decision of the court.”
